WEC’s support for the arts and education spans across the entire Winthrop public school system. In 2017, for example, we funded:
- a motivational speaker for the high school
- professional development books for grade school faculty
- laptop headphones for kindergarteners
- new health class materials (replacing 18+ year old textbooks)
- a classroom aquaponics station
- a robotics & programming curriculum package
- guitars & guitar equipment for the high school music program
Historically, WEC successfully spearheaded the cause of expanding the size and scope of the Winthrop Performing Arts Center at the Winthrop High School, enabling it to serve the greater Winthrop area for entertainment and community events for many years to come. Previous iterations of our organization would also invite and host nationally renowned musical artists at the Performing Arts Center.
